Hi, I'm Carrielyn Grier
A woman of faith
Hello, I’m Carrie Grier, the founder of Spread the Word Tees. My mission is to share the good news of Jesus Christ to others and offer a message of faith, hope and love through scripture.
The story
I became a christian at an early age. I’ve always loved going to church and reading the bible. But, throughout the years, I was not fully committed to God. I knew the path I was taking would lead to destruction. I rededicated my life back to God and wanted to faithfully serve him. But I didn’t know what to do. I began praying and asking God what purpose he had for me. How would he use me? And for him to give me direction. I have always turned to scripture for it is God’s instructions to his children. There are so many scriptures of God’s love for us, messages of hope, faith, encouragement and even conviction to remind us how we should live as followers of Christ.
In 2010, I thought that a scripture on a t-shirt would be a wonderful way to spread the word of God. So, I grabbed a sheet of paper and began to sketch a t-shirt. I wrote down a few of my favorite scriptures and placed one of the scriptures on my mock drawing. The scripture was Philippians 4:8, which reads “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” That was such an uplifting scripture for me when my heart was troubled.
A perfect name for my business would be “Spread the Word Tees” so I wrote it down on the paper. The scripture, Habakkuk 2:2 says Then the Lord answered me and said “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.” That’s just what I did. I placed the paper at the top of a cabinet so that it would be visible every time I opened it. At that time, I was not financially able to start a business and I had a demanding job. But I kept the faith. I did not share my plan with anyone, not even my husband. That paper stayed in the cabinet until my husband and I sold our home, April 2021. My faith never wavered.
After we settled into our new home and as my job became less demanding, I started thinking more and more about my t-shirt business. With excitement, I showed my husband the vision that I held for so long. Not only was he in agreement, he was very excited about it and began creating a comfortable workspace for me to run it.
By the grace of God, after 13 years SPREAD THE WORD TEES LLC, is in operation. I pray that as you wear your SPREAD THE WORD TEE, it creates an opportunity for you to share your story.
